International Symposium In Bali 2007

Information and communication technology have developed rapidly. ICT makes fundamental changes in all aspect of human life, including education. Nowadays, ICT have been an integral part of educational system and have changed the paradigm of teaching and learning, especially for Open Distance and E-learning (ODEL). Therefore, ODEL becomes an accepted and indispensable part of the mainstream of educationalsystem, esp. for lifelong learning in both developed and developing countries.
The potentials of ICT have made government, educators, and trainers in all countries more aware that traditional ways of education need to be reinforced by new paradigm or new innovative methods. Therefore, it is essensial for government an educators to realistically examine the opportuneities offered by ICT for ODEL within the the framework of philosophical/conceptual foundations, quality assurance, etc. in general and education policy in particular.
Aimed with such an intresting and propitious vision and expectation, The International Symposium on Open, Distance and E-learning (ISODEL) will provide a good opportunity for policy makers in all sectors, education and training provider, ODEL Practitioners, development agencies and education customers (teacher, lecturers) who wish to herness the potentials of ODEL to the needs of providing better education and sustainable development.
